I heard there is over 250ish variations in each of the 4 primary classes. I can tank if need be, doing awesome damage as archer or be primary healer for a group. I wear plate armor, use sword and shield, have a pet and a bad ass mount. Class customization is SICK, I am currently leveling a Healer type class (Vitalism Class) with a sub class of Archer. I am seeing people as early as 20 crafting there own boats and doing water pvp combat. Leveling is not hard at all, You get early mounts and pets for each class that are good tanks. I am in the Alpha and the game is insane good.

People will talk down about anything NON DAoC related but this game is for real. however it really is unique among what's currently out there and i think a lot of the AC crowd will feel a similar sense of awe in this game that they did way back when in AC. So, its definitely not AC3 and i'm sure it won't be for every AC player. it's really a player-run game and i think that's what will make it great. often when running along paths you'll see people going back and forth transporting materials or goods and doing their daily trade runs. when wandering around you'll spot entire player-made towns with trading posts, merchants, farms, etc. im currently just doing quests and leveling up via combat, but i fully intend on setting up a farm, building a house on the overworld, and crafting a boat to take to the seas. this is a sandbox game and you can avoid combat and questing altogether if you so choose. What really attracted me to the game, though, is the crafting, housing, seafaring, and trading potential, among other things. that being said, i doubt we'll ever see a game that reproduces AC's unique combat system, especially as far as mages were concerned. it's still bound in more traditional western MMO combat style, but there is definitely potential to get creative with the abilities and it seems to me that they've innovated far beyond what's available in current "standard" western MMOs. however i do think there is a lot of room for tactics with the way the skill system is set up - you choose your abilities individually from 3 different skill trees of your choosing to create your "template". Hard to say at this point as i haven't progressed enough to get into the real core gameplay yet.

You know, skill and tactics actually mattered, enabling you to kill monsters 5-10 times your level if you knew what you were doing (Using Bludgeon on Tuskars or Skeletons, etc, etc), plus the complexity of dungeons, the random loot lottery system and the fact you were almost always close to dying if you didn't take care. What made AC good was that it was broken according to "todays play mechanics". i really think AC players will dig the skill based system, overworld housing, and overall freedom this game provides. It definitely doesn't suck! i'm in the alpha too and it's amazing so far even though i've barely scratched the surface of all the crafting / sandbox stuff.
